HISTORY

Grandma's started in business at the request of friends and family. My family has been the heart of the business as my grandmother fed a large family all her life. With 60 years of trial and error, she left me with a great amount of facts and knowledge about food and its preparation. The recipes used for Grandma's Amish Products are from her 60 years of cooking experience and are 50 to 100 years old as many were handed down through the family. We prepare our products the way Grandma did- in small batches in open kettles that make only 20-30 jars at a time. We only use all natural ingredients at the peak of freshness and quality. There are no chemicals added to any or our products, just the natural things my grandmother and great-grandmother would have used.

We are the only people in Virginia that still make watermelon rind pickles, old fashioned 7-day sweet pickles, and spiced peaches the old way. It takes 8 days to make these items the way grandmother did. That's the difference between fast paced suppliers and us. We take the care, time, and love Grandma used in feeding her family.

In 2000, I won Blue Ribbons at the Virginia State Fair for our Strawberry Jam and Chili Sauce. I also won Red Ribbons for several pickles and jams and also White Ribbons for these goods. The reason for these ribbons is a total love of food and doing things the right way-- only fresh, natural ingredients. So this is how we started business, and we thank my grandmother and the Amish for our success.

In 2002 I also won several Blue, Red, and White ribbons at the Virginia State Fair for my sauces and pickled products, including a best of show for pickled goods.
